Our new collection was born out of the first UK lockdown in March 2020. During this time we had time to think about our impact as a brand and made the decision to become more conscious and focused on waste led design. The result of this period of reflection is our new collection N I N E.
N I N E by T E N S
Creating during lockdown allowed long-held ideas to be put into practice. Our response has been to go back to basics by experimenting with natural dyeing as well as developing craft skills like quilting and knitting. A consideration for environmental sustainability has been central in this development and we have consciously sourced second hand materials and recycled yarns.
The British Black Power Movement and Black Liberation c.1970s and the idea that 'adornment was crucial to defining liberation on their own terms' has been the inspiration for this collection. The Black Panthers' militant style has inspired us to rework unissued vintage military uniforms.
